Wes Craven’s New Nightmare

★★½☆ – (1994) – Freddy Krueger tries to manifest his fictitious self into the real world. Has a promising concept that leads to some resourceful moments, but borders on a total misfire. The mother/son relationship is preached into the ground, the gimmick swarms with repetition, and despite all attempts, Freddy is simply not meaner. The finale, however, excites.
